Below is the link to my Virtual Field Trip. It is hosted on my Dropbox site and in a zip file
that will require you to download and unzip to watch. The file within the zip file is an .exe - it is safe - no virus or malware included! I created it using
an application called Indigo Rose Autoplay. It is basically a stand alone
(no need to install) software application. Just unzip and double click. I chose to do it this way
because I love the Autoplay software and because it lets me do some cool things
that PowerPoint and other possible VFT software builders did not.
I enjoyed creating this project quite a
bit. I can see making these for other subjects as well. I would
really like to format a lesson that requires the students to create their own
VFT. It would be an excellent way to incorporate multiple subjects into
one project - writing & science, writing & social studies, etc.
Students could follow the writing process from start to publication. This
would also be an amazing opportunity for students to work in a group and
collaborate. Since I targeted 5th grade for this I left my "task" as simple questions. I would really like to use this and let the students figure out which way to take their new found knowledge. I am doing my student teaching in a 5th grade class and am really hoping I get to use this.
I have to say, I could have kept going. There were so many things I could have done with this. The Autoplay software will actually let me create forms so I could have included a quiz or a short answer pages. There is just not enough time in the day to do all the things I wanted to do.
