Creating a digital story sounded like a really great idea to me from the start but I have to say that it was even more awesome once I got started. Picking the pictures, deciding on the text, and choosing music to add to my story were super fun but not the best part. The best part was picking my subject. Since this project was centered around a science lesson/topic it left it wide open for any number of the cool things about science to choose from. I love science - every. thing. about. it! It did take me several days to narrow it down to one topic and ultimately the idea of using the "drop of water" came to me from spilling a glass of water on my floor.
I found choosing the text for my digital story was the most difficult part. I didn't want to include too many words and I certainly didn't want to leave out any important information. Then there was the task of making sure the slides were visible long enough to read the text. I found that Windows Photo Story software was easy to use and it made all my tasks easier.
I can see using this software for students to create their own presentations. I think that when assigned any type of research project this might make it just that much more engaging for them. It would give them a multimedia type outlet and allow for publication to an authentic audience.
