I started this blog/site as an assignment for school but have become sort of addicted to adding things to it so have decided to keep it going. You might notice that the title says "STEM Stuff", that is because my primary focus is STEM but I will also be including information relevant to other content/study areas.

Tech Resource - Apps for ANDROID!!!!
Came across this page today that has Android apps for teachers. It is so rare to find good recommendations for Android - seems they are all iPad these days.
I downloaded and installed Clarisketch - it is pretty cool! Check it out.

Tech Resource: Scratch! Video Game (and other awesome projects) for Kids!
This one isn't from my field experience. It is from my summer job. I work for Computer Explorers teaching summer day camp classes for kids from K to 6th grade. They are all STEM oriented. The one I probably enjoy the most is Scratch. It is a really powerful tool that is kid friendly. It was designed by MIT and is...wait for it...FREE!
Here is a nifty video to show you what it can do!

Tech Resource: Kahoot!
Of course this is another resource from my cooperating teacher! For extension activities she had her GT (gifted & talented) kids create "Kahoots" which are basically a trivia game. The kids in the class can play along via their iPads or cell phones (ugh) while the game is displayed on the SmartBoard - they buzz in their answer (multiple choice) and get points based on how fast they got it and if they got it correct. Think bar trivia for kids where the students are creating the trivia game.
And, of course, it is FREE!
